Of the eye (and some of the mind)

Pop Up On Line Exhibition

Inspired by another artist, I decided to exhibit some of my work on line in a small exhibition. The photographic works are of the nature I see on my walks in the river valley, in particular ice and water, and also a little of what I see when I’m paying attention in the moment.  My digital drawings are pieces that developed while working on specific series or were a side product of that work.  As I don’t often set out with a specific idea in mind, I look at the shapes, shadows, and lines I have made to determine where a piece will go.

Want to know more about me?  Check out my biography, or some of my meet the maker posts from March.

You can also check out three of these pieces at Harcourt House’s Art O Rama 2019 until December 16th.

What’s Left Unsaid Harcourt House Members Show

Harcourt House Artist Run Centre is hosting its annual members show from June 15th to July 14. What’s Left Unsaid asked artists “to delve a little deeper into their process of artistic communication; to explore subject matter that may not initially feel comfortable or approachable, to try and articulate something that hasn’t yet been revealed but still lingers there, on the periphery”.

Many of the works are for sale. Members shows are a great way to add some original art to your collection, support local artists and artist centres.

I have three pieces in this show. Enjoy!

Keeping my eyes open

In my last post I wrote about taking the time to look around and appreciating the landscape, whether it is picture perfect or not. In my day to day travels I keep my eyes open to my surroundings, and continue to take photographs. Some work out and some not so much. I try not to worry too much about those that do not work out and just keep taking photos. It’s interesting to see if the image I took matches the one in my mind’s eye. I have a lot to learn! That’s ok though, as I am always happiest when I am learning. Today I am sharing two photos from the past week.

In other news, three of my digital drawings were accepted to be a part of Visual Arts Alberta/CARFAC’s Ten Voices 2017 show. One of them is the diptych Overwhelm/Overcome. I am excited and thankful to Visual Arts Alberta/CARFAC for the opportunity!
