Quietly, quietly

It’s time to update on what I have been doing these past months.  I continue to work on digital drawings, but I don’t have a particular series in mind at the moment.  The app I prefer to use was updated again, and I am trying to adjust to the changes, which never seem to be good ones these days.

Through an art call last fall I learned about an art movement called Techspressionsim. Techspressionism is new art-historical term to describe fine artists using digital technology to convey subjective, emotional content.  There is an active group of international artists engaging and sharing, and I am enjoying participating in the twice monthly Techspressionism Virtual Salons.   You can learn more about it, and see two virtual art shows here.  Through this group I also completed a collaboration with New York based artist Tommy Mintz in April.  I have plans to collaborate with two other artists in the coming months, one locally and the other based in the United States.

I am pleased to say that I received a third place award for my work Weight, in the International Society of Experimental Artists juried show Making our Marks earlier this year.  You can see this work on my home page or in the virtual exhibition at the link above.

I will also have an artwork in Harcourt House Artist-Run Centre’s virtual juried members’ show PandemARTium, from June 24-July 17th.  A portion of the proceeds from sold artworks support Harcourt House’s excellent arts programming.

I continue to work on photography and abstraction (or sometimes without abstraction).  You can check out my photography, digital drawings and other creative work on instagram @deann_stein_hasinoff_art.

I hope you are finding ways to be creative.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!  A quick update as I realized today how much time had passed since I last posted.  COVID time seems to both crawl and fly by.

I am pleased to say that two works were accepted into exhibitions.

Safe? II is currently in Utterly Unfathomable and Powerfully Profound, the fall juried members show for the International Society of Experimental Artists.  The show is virtual, click on the link to view it.  The call for the spring members show will begin January 15th.  Check it out.

Safe? II will be a part of Harcourt House Artist-Run Centre‘s Art-O-Members-Naked Show and Fundraiser from January 22nd – February 22nd.  This virtual show and fundraiser combines three events that typically would take place during a normal year.  As we all know last year was anything but normal!  Harcourt House is making the best of it while continuing to support artists, and provide excellent art education and exhibition opportunities.

Castle Faerie will be a part of the Alberta Society of Artists traveling exhibition Into the Light in the spring of 2021.  The show will visit four locations in Alberta.
