It’s time to update on what I have been doing these past months. I continue to work on digital drawings, but I don’t have a particular series in mind at the moment. The app I prefer to use was updated again, and I am trying to adjust to the changes, which never seem to be good ones these days.
Through an art call last fall I learned about an art movement called Techspressionsim. Techspressionism is new art-historical term to describe fine artists using digital technology to convey subjective, emotional content. There is an active group of international artists engaging and sharing, and I am enjoying participating in the twice monthly Techspressionism Virtual Salons. You can learn more about it, and see two virtual art shows here. Through this group I also completed a collaboration with New York based artist Tommy Mintz in April. I have plans to collaborate with two other artists in the coming months, one locally and the other based in the United States.
I am pleased to say that I received a third place award for my work Weight, in the International Society of Experimental Artists juried show Making our Marks earlier this year. You can see this work on my home page or in the virtual exhibition at the link above.
I will also have an artwork in Harcourt House Artist-Run Centre’s virtual juried members’ show PandemARTium, from June 24-July 17th. A portion of the proceeds from sold artworks support Harcourt House’s excellent arts programming.
I continue to work on photography and abstraction (or sometimes without abstraction). You can check out my photography, digital drawings and other creative work on instagram @deann_stein_hasinoff_art.
I hope you are finding ways to be creative.
